The Cosmic Axis

I would like to note I had no part in building this location. This was a part of the second life roleplay sim Ashenborne when it was still active.
I did, however, write the text below for them while I was storytelling the fae of that sim. This was to give the headquarters of the fae a bit more flavor.

   This information is scribbled onto a piece of parchment made from substance of dubious nature with bone as its ingredients. The ink is made of a similarly suspicious substance.

*~* Location *~*

   Not far from Monk Springs lies a awe inspiring sight. Far more than a shrine, this is a cosmic axis. A place of elemental unity. As such, I dub this location Jera after the Rune of Completion and Seasons.

   Four pillars carved from a black stone are erected. Each are covered in runes relating to, and glowing a color in relation of, one of the four base elements erected according to a direction on my compass: Air in the east, Earth in the north, Fire in the South, and Water in the West. This is a clear representation of the four elements the Fae as a whole are tied to.

   Located in the center of the elemental circle is a vibrant, powerful tree. I theorize this is a relative to Yggdrasil. Instead of life, this tree clearly is a Tree of Magic. Possibly THE tree of magic. Is it clearly the source of the Fae magic. A neutral element, this tree and its placement in the centerof the circle shows significance as the roots connect the five elements of the circle together. Like a crack in space, the roots show everything,

   Beneath the tree lie a spiderweb of peculiar roots. A beautiful collage of blues and purples, the glowing flowers that infest this forest peer through it. This illusion gives the magical roots, staining the dirt with its pure magic, the appearance of the true source of life, magic, darkness, and everything in between. The Cosmos.

* ~ * Legends *~*

*~  Two mythical horses, or as I have come to call them the "Ehwaz" after the Horse Rune, are said to stay in close proximity of the circle. They are skilled at eluding all but the most skilled of explorers, hunters, and observers. These two living beings are, in fact, said to be a piece of the circle. With one representing the light and life of the universe and the other representing the darkness and the death that must soon fall upon the life. The genders of these two beings are unknown, if they even have genders.

   The horse of life is a unicorn. More energetic, it protects the forest with a might horn. Should the tree of magic be threatened, it is always the first to spark into action. Barreling in and, with a mixture of primal force and magical domination, it will protect Jera without prejudice. Because of this, this entity has become a symbol of order among the magical beasts. The polar opposite of its brother, it often also represents peaceful dreams.

   The lethargic nightmare, on the other hand, often lazes about with in the vicinity of the circle. Knowing well that his reach would soon come across all in range of its magic, it merely observes and strikes like a nightmare in the night. Believed to be a Nightmare, the symbol of Chaos has taken a form in mockery, or possibly honor, of the Unicorn. Lacking the fiery hooves and mane it is known for, this is merely due to its preference to rest and strike from afar. Should he be physically threatened, however, the embodiment of nightmares itself will consume all who dare disturb it.

   At the center lies the tree of Magic. Their ball and chain, the connection that keeps the two mythical horses in harmony. With the tree keeping balance, the pair will never attack each other. The tree represents, along with magic, Epiphany, Knowledge, and Prophecy. Completing the triangle of Dream, Prophecy, Nightmares and, of course, Creation, Magic, and Chaos.

   Should harm become the Tree of Magic, the two mythical horses are said to go to war.Should this horrible even come to pass, may the Cosmos smile upon us all.
